You Are the Ripple
And everything changes when you come back to your centre
When women stop surviving and find their centre,
they create, transform, and lead.
They live well.

Women Make Waves is where women reclaim their inner power and from that place, everything begins to change.
PERSONAL TRANSFORMATION
What happens when women regulate and rise
They make bold career moves
_____________
Launching businesses, changing careers, stepping into leadership. When the nervous system feels safe enough to let go of what's wrong, clarity and courage take over.
They transform their relationships
_____________
Leaving what's toxic, setting boundaries they never could before, showing up in love and connecting from a grounded place instead of a survival pattern.
They lead differently
_____________
In their homes, workplaces, and communities. Not from pressure or people-pleasing, but from a place of embodied power and emotional clarity. A burnout-free place.

OUR ROOTS
Ancient wisdom for modern healing
Women Make Waves believes that indigenous cultures are the custodians of ancestral knowledge that has sustained nations, communities, and nature for thousands of years. The modern Western world has much to learn from these traditions: about wellbeing, connection and belonging, and about what it means to truly champion diversity.
That’s why we draw from ancestral wisdom in our method and offer ethical, immersive experiences that deepen your own healing while supporting cultural conservation and revival. Every experience is designed to honour the people and places we learn from, not extract from them.
THE HOURIA METHOD
Safety isn't soft. It's the strategy
Women Make Waves’ founder, Sonia Houria Essia was named after her grandmother. And the method she created to support women in their transformation naturally took the same name. One that means freedom in the feminine form.
The concept of freedom is embedded in the North African tradition, whose First Nations’ name, Amazigh, means the Free People.
The Houria Method is a symbiotic approach to transformation. It works at the root, with the whole person across three dimensions: your inner world, your relationships, and your connection to something larger. Grounded in nervous system science, emotional intelligence, and ancestral wisdom.
You’ve done the self-help books. The journaling. The pushing through. But your nervous system didn’t get the memo.
The Houria Method integrates nervous system regulation, emotional intelligence, and ancestral wisdom to guide women from survival mode into grounded, creative, powerful action. For individuals, it’s the path home to yourself. The path to self-liberation. For organisations, it’s Symbiosis: the same principles applied to how teams communicate, perform, and sustain themselves.
The method that is distilled in the Inner Power Mentorship and every workshop leads to become more Resilient, to feel a deep sense of Belonging and capable of taking the steps towards your goals in a way that is Sustainable.
Women Make Waves' Founder
About Sonia
I’m a French-Tunisian nervous system and emotional intelligence coach, breathwork facilitator, and the founder of Women Make Waves. I’m also a former international commercial lawyer who left the legal world after a surfing accident broke my back and forced me to reckon with everything I’d been outrunning.
What came out of that stillness became The Houria Method, named after my grandmother. It’s the work I do with every woman who walks through these doors.
I built WMW because I wanted to give other women what I had to fight to find: a space where they could come home to themselves, and tools they could use for life

Bringing this work to your team
Sonia speaks at conferences and corporate events on safety as a strategy, nervous system intelligence for leaders, and what indigenous wisdom teaches modern organisations, communities, and those shaping a more human way of living and leading.
I felt stuck and didn’t know how to move forward.
I came in overwhelmed and unsure. Now I feel clearer than ever. I finally know what I want and trust myself to go for it.
What's amazing about working with Sonia is that she put to words what I didn't know how to express and showed by example. She is open about her own stories and inner work which makes it so reassuring to see someone else has done it before and truly understands.
Sonia's coaching is like nothing I have experienced before. She offers the safest of spaces and patiently distils her wisdom while getting you to see things from a different standpoint. Always with love and absolute fairness, while helping you believe in yourself. She helped me navigate my emotions, and see where the blocks were while empowering me to take full responsibility for what I want, and giving me all the tools I need to make that happen. In a short amount of time, I managed to get back on track with my dream life, which I am now fully leading with my head high. I went from being afraid of taking steps or even admit to myself what I wanted, to not only wording it but manifesting every single aspect. Sonia is knowledgeable, intuitive, and has many fidderent tools in her arsenal which help you tackle a problem or goal from all sides: body, mind, emotions and soul. I am so blessed to have been able to work with Sonia, she has taught me tools that I will continue to use throughout my life.
I keep getting hijacked by fear, anxiety or self-doubt.
Sonia has guided me and held me with such safety. I felt a deep shift. I feel light, strong, more present and I’m no longer letting fear take over. You gave me awesome tips on how to process and clear old stuff. I know what to do now and Little Me is feeling heard and connected again. I am very grateful.
Sonia doesn't just speak. She shifts the room!
We walked out feeling confident, connected, loved, and accepted for who we are. Thank you, Sonia, for pouring into us all and inspiring us to step up authentically.
The Sahara project
Retracing the Footsteps of My Ancestors
The Sahara Project is a solo expedition to retrace ancient Amazigh trade routes across the Sahara Desert. A journey of ancestral reclamation, cultural preservation, and radical self-trust.
It’s the ultimate practice of everything I teach: regulating my nervous system under extreme conditions, trusting my body, and walking in the footsteps of the women who came before me.
This project exists because of the inner work. Years of emotional processing led me to reclaim an identity that wasn’t named in my family, my Amazigh heritage. That reclamation became the Sahara Project.
This isn’t just an expedition. It’s proof that the work works.
Our Collective Impact
A percentage of all program proceeds is directed to partner organisations working in cultural preservation, women’ empowerment, and ocean conservation.
Your First Step Doesn't Have to Be Big.
